Industries We Serve — Refractory Solutions for Indian Industry

Ellite Materials supplies refractory raw materials and monolithic refractories to the plants that make India's steel, iron, sponge iron, cement, power and precision castings, and to the refractory manufacturers that formulate for them. The product line spans Bajaj Mullite 60 sintered mullite, Bajaj Ceramull refractory-grade kyanite and fused silica; and finished monolithics — castables, mortars, ramming masses, gunning mixes, plastics.

Every industry below is served from a state-of-the-art Bangalore plant, at 50,000 MT per annum combined installed capacity across the raw-materials and monolithics lines: in-house sintered mullite, kyanite beneficiation and fused silica processing, alongside a monolithics line producing castables, mortars, ramming masses, gunning mixes, plastics.

Send us the service condition — vessel, zone, temperature profile, atmosphere, slag chemistry, a drawing, or a lining failure you are trying to solve — and we will recommend the aggregate, the monolithic grade, and where relevant the shape.

Refractory Material Manufacturers

Aggregates and fines supplied to brick makers, castable formulators and shell suppliers.

Refractory brick manufacturers, castable formulators, ceramic producers and shell suppliers buy from Ellite Materials because control of the mineral source translates directly into lot-to-lot chemistry discipline. Sintering and calcination run in-house at the Bangalore plant, and every consignment carries a certificate of analysis with chemistry, phase information where required, particle size distribution against mesh cuts, and the relevant physical properties — traced back to the production batch.

Raw materials into this category: Bajaj Mullite 60 sintered mullite, Bajaj Ceramull refractory-grade kyanite, fused silica. Grade codes and typical analysis sheets available against enquiry.

Investment Casting

Fused silica and sintered mullite for prime, back-up and seal coats.

The shell system decides cast surface finish, dimensional accuracy and knock-out behaviour. Prime coats demand controlled particle shape and tight PSD for slurry rheology and stucco coverage; back-up coats need thermal-expansion stability and green-shell strength; seal coats require fine flour without slurry drop-off. Ellite Materials supplies fused silica as slip flour and stucco fractions with very low thermal expansion, for aluminium and thermal-shock-dominated work; kyanite-derived sintered mullite carries the back-up loading and holds dimensional stability through the burn-out and preheat cycle.

Grades are held to the mesh cuts, chemistry and lot-consistency shell suppliers actually audit against — with sample retention and replay analysis on request.

Iron Making

Main trough castables, tap-hole clay, torpedo linings and BF cast-house monolithics.

The blast furnace cast house is one of the most demanding refractory environments in the plant: molten iron at cast-house service temperatures, slag chemistry that shifts between taps, thermal cycling on every cast, and the mechanical wear of the runner rammer and drill. Ellite Materials produces Al₂O₃-SiC-C trough castables for the main runner, tilting runner and iron runner; anhydrous tap-hole clay for mud-gun application at the taphole; and rammed runner mixes for skimmer and slag-runner areas.

For torpedo ladles and hot-metal launders Ellite Materials supplies high-alumina castables drawn to plant geometry. The BF stack, bosh and belly programme is supported by high-alumina brick equivalents and by the raw-materials line — BMULL60 sintered mullite and Bajaj Ceramull kyanite — for formulators building trough and runner mixes to their own recipes.

Steel Making

Ladle, tundish, EAF, LF and induction furnace linings — with the aggregates behind them.

Steel-plant campaign life is decided by matching the wear mechanism to the lining chemistry. The ladle programme covers the working lining, safety lining, slag zone and metal zone with alumina-spinel and alumina-magnesia castables; the impact pad, well block and purging-plug seats are supplied to customer drawing. Tundish work is served by dense high-alumina castable for the permanent lining and by MgO-based dry-vibratable working-lining mass; turbostops and impact pads are precast to flow-control geometry.

EAF hearth, slag-line and hot-spot needs are met with magnesia-carbon equivalents and by high-alumina precast delta sections. Coreless induction furnaces are supplied with high-silica ramming mass for cast-iron service and alumina-spinel neutral ramming mass for steel. Behind every finished product on this list sits the raw-materials line — BMULL60 sintered mullite, Bajaj Ceramull kyanite and fused silica — supplied in parallel to independent formulators who batch their own linings.

DRI (Sponge Iron)

Rotary kiln, cooler and transfer refractories tuned to alkali attack and abrasion.

Coal-based DRI kilns run three attack mechanisms simultaneously: elevated service temperature at the discharge end, alternating oxidising and reducing atmospheres, and Na₂O/K₂O volatilisation that condenses on the refractory hot face and drives accretion. Ellite Materials' castables and bricks for the kiln body are formulated mullite-bonded and alkali-resistant, with the controlled porosity that limits alkali penetration; the kiln dam, air-injection-pipe seatings, kiln inlet and discharge-end zones are supplied as precast shapes where drawing tolerance decides ring-formation propensity.

The rotary cooler runs cooler and less aggressive service and is served by moderate-alumina castables. On the raw-material side, DRI-plant refractory formulators buy Bajaj Ceramull kyanite and BMULL60 fines from Ellite Materials for mullite-matrix development in their own alkali-resistant recipes.

Power

CFBC combustor, cyclone and loop-seal castables — abrasion-graded.

CFBC boilers put refractories in continuous abrasive service: bed material recirculating through the combustor, cyclone, cyclone inlet duct, loop seal and downcomer at velocities that make abrasion resistance the governing spec. The CFBC range is built around SiC-containing low-cement castables for the highest-wear zones — cyclone barrel, cyclone inlet and return leg — and dense LCC for combustor walls and refractory-lined ducts. Insulating backup castables complete the two-layer design.

For thermal PC boilers Ellite Materials supplies burner tiles, burner-block and refractory-lined transitions for wind-box, ID-fan and de-slagger geometries. Waste-heat recovery boilers (WHRB) sitting downstream of DRI kilns are served with inlet-duct castables and radiant-section monolithics. Formulators serving the power sector source BMULL60 and Bajaj Ceramull kyanite from Ellite Materials for their own abrasion-resistant matrix work.

Cement

Preheater, calciner, burning zone, cooler and TAD linings — alkali, chloride and clinker resistant.

Modern cement kilns are a chemistry problem before they are a thermal one: alkali volatilisation and condensation, chloride and sulphate cycles, salt spalling in the preheater, clinker penetration in the burning zone. Ellite Materials' alkali-resistant castables and brick equivalents cover the preheater and calciner path — cyclone stages, riser ducts, in-line and separate-line calciners, and the TAD — with the controlled permeability that limits feldspathoid formation. The safety zone and upper transition zone are served by high-alumina products; burning-zone requirements are met with coating-friendly high-alumina and alumina-spinel.

Cooling zone, nose ring, kiln hood and grate-cooler sidewalls are supplied as SiC-bearing high-alumina castables. For plants co-processing alternative fuels — RDF, tyres, shredded waste — the same range is available in reduced-porosity variants tuned to intensified chloride and sulphate service. Formulators building their own alkali-resistant recipes source Bajaj Ceramull kyanite and BMULL60 from the Ellite Materials raw-materials line.
